Okies.. The Ixus 70 and 75 were released quite a while ago, or not. Why a review on both? Because they are the same, to a large extent.
Usually the first thing my customers checks out is the megapix (mp) 7.1 mp is already good enough for family use. If you're gonna take a picture of Johnny Depp and blow it up into a poster to wallpaper your room, read no further. I would first analyse the percentage of usage of the camera. These 2 should be suitable for holiday, etc.. or just shooting spastic photos of your class.
The average ISO of 1600 is probably something normal people dont mess around with, just set it to auto, for the ixuses. Face detection AF is something very common now for most cameras, and as usual, like the other Ixuses, there would be a 3x3 grid in which it detects faces, prominent objects etc.. for manual focus, read mence's blog, im too lazy. But this auto functionality is good enough. The AE makes sure the subject's face gets the most attention using exposure, focus. The FE has to do with your flash conditions and its relation with the face. I noamally dont elaborate on this stuff unless they ask me to, coz most dont even know what they are. Thats why Canon is smart enough to invent something called auto.
Zooming is essential. For ixuses, its always 3.0 optical, and dont bother about digital zoom, its not worth your time. The only exceptions are the Ixus ISs, like the IS 850 has 3.8x optical. For better zooming, buy the powershots.
For the my colours functions, specifically for canon cameras, its quite common in handphones, heard or vivid, sepia, black and white? But dont worry, it wouldnt be too much trouble even if u tried to make it so.
An irritating qn I always get is"What about videos?" Come on, this is a digital cam, get a powershot TX. Now I know why all those video presentations I see in school only have background music and no sound, they must have tried to film it using a normal cam. The TX has HD quality shooting and stereo sound btw..
For direct printing, connect to printer with pict bridge, I dunno much about printers but the canon and epson ones will do. Or just go to the printing shop and save on paper and ink.
What then, is the diff between the 2? The 70 so far is the slimmest Ixus, check out the dimensions. The 75 has a more appealing design, so its a bit bulkier, but still super slim. The 70, and all the other ixuses which ends with a 0 have LCd screens of 2.5 inches, average. Those that end with 5s like the 75 & 65 have 3 inches. These are probably the only differences.
